statement
I find joy in transforming the familiar through abstraction, reimagining what we think we know. My work invites viewers to move beyond recognition, to experience something altered and unexpected. For me, abstraction is about discovering and offering a different perspective on the known.
As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, aspects of my work address issues of social justice, while other works address the emotional landscape of my queer identity in a more implicit manner.
I work with a variety of materials: mixed media, oil paint, encaustic, and reeds, exploring all I encounter.
