Texture draws and repels me to and from objects; for others color, smell or sound might serve the same motivating factor, but for me it has always been about touch. This body of work marks a return to the pure and simple joy of playing with texture and observing how molten wax (encaustic) responds to and interacts with pigments added directly to the wax or placed on top of the wax in combination with the different surfaces of the various papers underneath. All of these elements have their own behavior; attempting to control them is a constant tightrope walk when the images underneath hold as much visual import as the atmosphere created on top.
